St Clair Vineyard Half

Kei runga noa atu koutou!

Kia ora whānau!

Can you believe it’s been a week already since St Clair!  What an outstanding effort by everyone!

Last weekend was amazing! We are so thankful to be a part of this amazing tribe and were blown away to see everyone cross the finish line!  Four months ago most of us didn’t know each other and seeing the tribe come together, being active and having fun was a highlight for us all.    Another awesome aspect was having three generations together at this event, we had three one year olds in the support crew and decked out in their tribe shirts made for some super cute pics!

The vibe at the event and after at our whānau hākari will be a lifetime memory for many of us!

Here are a couple of our fav pics with more to come!

XRACE

Childrens Day 2017 and our Tri Pounamu Tribe was out with our tamariki kicking up the dust (well in this case sand!) as they took part in the NZHL Xrace.  It was exceptional weather as our whanau navigated their way around the 3.5 km beach course with 10 stations including toe nail painting, three legged races, house building, origami, memory game, dance off and more.  Everyone came across the finish line smiling and got to take home their tshirts and medals

Oma! Run Seminar

Another great night out with the Tri Pounamu Whānau as we heard all about running and injury prevention from the team at PodiatryMed!  The evening was hosted by Grace Training in association with Purapura Whetu.

There were many take home messages and these were our favourite.

  • Build up with little and often
  • Listen to your body
  • You are not your mates – do what YOUR body requires
  • No question is too silly
  • Have fun and enjoy ☺

5km Series

The Shoe Clinic Asics 5km series was a huge success.  We started out with a small group on the 10th January and by the end of the series (7th Feb) we had over 40 whanau including tamariki having taken part in the event!  It was awesome to see everyone enjoying movement, we had a great spread of times from our fast bunnies coming across the line in under 20 minutes to our beginners who walked the course and built up their confidence and speed over the series.    Some of our tamarki competed in their own 1.6 race!

We endured all weather from wind, rain, and blazing 31 degree days!  It didn’t deter our tribe, even those that were injured joined us on the last week with their dogs and completed one lap!    We were very lucky to also have Elaine from Podiatrymed out on the course with our whanau, supporting their running efforts and giving encouragement to keep running!

Our sights are now set on the Christchurch City2Surf in March where many of our whanau have already committed to either the 6km or 14km event!

Tutū te puehu!

ps don’t forget our running seminar with the awesome Elaine from Podiatrymed
